Learn to confidently identify wine faults and aroma compounds

Multiple wine glasses filled with red wine arranged on a marble table with a bottle in the background.

Our teaching method

We add aroma compounds to wine, to create benchmark teaching samples.

During our courses, you will taste 11 glasses of the same neutral wine. 1 of those is kept unchanged as a reference, the remaining 10 each have a single aroma compound added.

This allows practicing identification of common wine aromas and faults one by one.

Frequently asked questions

Where do you ship to?

We ship the flavouring vials worldwide.

What base wine should I pick?

White wine: A neutral white wine, such as Pinot Grigio, Ugni Blanc, Soave or unoaked Chardonnay.

Red wine: a neutral red wine, such as Languedoc Merlot, Côtes du Rhône, Bardolino or an entry-level Pinot Noir.

A white wine is used for the the wine faults set, as well as the set containing positive aromas. A red wine can be used for the wine faults set, but some aromas may appear weak (especially #8 acetic acid).

The base wines do not need to be refrigerated – they can be at room temperature.
